Adult Basic Education Classes
Gain Knowledge and Academic Skills
The Adult Basic Education (ABE) program is designed to meet the needs of adults who function below the high school level and those with IDD* (Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities). Instruction is offered in reading, math, science, oral and written communication, and technology, provided at all levels of learning, from lower to intermediate. ABE classes are held at multiple locations, in English and Spanish, and offered for the full day, morning, or afternoon.
*Students must be mobile or attend class with a personal worker.
How It Works
The MTCC ABE program provides adult students with the opportunity to build their foundational knowledge of basic academic skills through instruction according to the North Carolina Adult Education Standards. ABE offers consistent and intensive contextualized classroom instruction which meets these requirements with a focus on career exploration and workforce preparation.
Students must be at least 18 years old.
