Rights and Responsibilities

Both the student and the college have rights, and also responsibilities. Below we outline the main rights and responsibilities that help you succeed in your chosen pathway.

Student Rights

As a student, you have the right to equal access across courses, programs, services, and activities. You can expect fair opportunities to learn, request accommodations, and receive information in accessible formats—all while knowing your privacy is protected.

Student Responsibilities

Your part of the partnership is to meet course and program standards, self-identify in a timely way, and provide documentation when needed. You’re also responsible for following procedures and submitting forms each semester so accommodations can be arranged smoothly.

College Rights

The college has the right to set academic standards and request documentation that supports accommodation requests. It may deny or adjust requests when they are not supported or would fundamentally alter a course or program, while still ensuring effective and fair support options are provided.

College Responsibilities

McDowell Tech is committed to accommodating known limitations, ensuring courses and services are accessible, and arranging adjustments without compromising academic integrity. The college also protects student confidentiality while keeping instruction consistent in quality and rigor.
