A consistent visual identity reflects the integrity and professionalism of McDowell Tech across every audience and platform. This guide is the single authoritative source for all brand applications. Use only the files provided in the approved download package — never reproduce logos or artwork from screen captures, web pages, or unofficial sources. For applications not covered here, contact the Office of Marketing & Communications.
Print & Publication Standards
All print materials produced by or on behalf of McDowell Technical Community College must adhere to the Pantone-matched values and approved file formats specified here. Assets are provided as high-resolution vector files suitable for professional offset and digital print production, including large-format signage.
Consistent application strengthens institutional recognition. Unauthorized modifications, color substitutions, or use of unapproved typefaces are not permitted.

Hand of Sean ships with the download package. It is not available via Google Fonts; this preview will fall back to a generic cursive font on devices without it installed.
Unacceptable Logo Manipulations
The primary logo must always be reproduced from the approved master files. The following examples illustrate common misuses that are never permitted.
Do not alter logo colors
Do not place color logo on dark backgrounds
Do not rearrange logo elements
Do not remove the tagline
Do not add shadows or effects
Do not stretch or distort
Digital & Web Standards
The rules below apply to all digital applications of the McDowell Tech identity — websites, social media, video, presentations, and email signatures.
Brand colors and typography are the same as print; refer to the Print & Publication tab for full specifications. Two additional rules apply specifically to digital use.

Hot-linking to brand assets is prohibited
Brand assets must never be embedded directly from this page or any other McDowell Tech URL. External sites, third-party platforms, social media tools, and partner communications must not reference image files, but must:
- Download the approved Brand Package once.
- Host logo files on the destination application’s own server or asset pipeline.
Asset URLs may change without notice as the site evolves; embedded references will break, and unauthorized off-site use cannot be audited or revoked.
Logo Contrast Checker
Enter a background color (hex or rgba) to determine whether the full-color logo or the white-on-color variant is appropriate. The check evaluates the navy wordmark at 4.5:1 (text-equivalent) and the green leaf at 3:1 (non-text graphic) against your background. The decorative gray hill silhouette is intentionally not tested — it is a tonal layer, and disappearing slightly against similar-toned backgrounds does not affect logo recognition.
Accepts: #FFF | #FFFFFF | rgba(255,255,255,1)
