Elementary Education Residency Licensure

Take your first step into the classroom with the Elementary Education Residency Licensure program. Designed to meet North Carolina Department of Public Instruction standards, this program provides the pedagogical foundation needed to become a certified teacher for elementary-aged students.

What You’ll Learn

Through targeted coursework, you’ll develop the knowledge and teaching skills to succeed in today’s diverse classrooms. Topics include:

  • Instructional Strategies: Learn effective teaching methods for specific content areas.
  • Classroom Management: Gain techniques to organize and maintain a productive learning environment.
  • Educational Technology: Use tools to enhance engagement and improve learning outcomes.
  • Diverse Learners: Understand how to adapt lessons to meet the needs of all students.
  • Assessment & Data Use: Build skills to evaluate student progress and inform instruction.

Graduates will meet general pedagogical competencies and demonstrate the effective teaching practices required for licensure.
