The Nurse Aide I Training Course is being offered as an in-person class with a classroom, lab, and clinical component. This course includes the basic nursing skills required to provide safe, competent personal care for individuals. Emphasis is placed on person-centered care, the aging process, safety, care of the elderly during emergencies, legal and ethical issues, communication, infection prevention, vital signs, height and weight measurements, elimination, nutrition, basic restorative care, rehabilitation, dementia, mental health, and end-of-life care. Upon successful completion, students will be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills for the entry-level practice of Nurse Aide I. Students will be eligible to test for listing on the North Carolina Nurse Aide I Registry by completing the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program administered by the North Carolina State testing agency.
All students who sign up for the Nurse Aide Training must be verified through the Program Coordinator/Director. To be verified, you must present your driver’s license, social security card, and High school transcript or equivalent. If you have questions, please contact the Program Coordinator/Director. Once verified for the class, payment must be made 1 week prior to the start of class. Proof of payment (receipt) must be present at orientation.
Class is limited to the first 10 students who present all qualifying documentation and payment.

Total Hours: 160 Hours
Mandatory Orientation: January 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. or at 4:00 p.m. Building 17, Room 109.
Credential: NC Division of Health Service Regulation Nurse Aide Certification
Cost: Tuition and Fees are $275.80, and textbooks are approximately $50.00.
Supplies Required:
- NC Nurse Aide I Manual approximately $50, please pick up in MTCC bookstore
- Scrubs (white or eggplant, eggplant bottoms) white shoes – price vary by brand preference
- 3-ring binder to place manual in (2-3”), paper & black pen, 3-ring binder (1") to place lab book in
- Memo/note pad
- “Nurse Aide I student” ID badge obtained from MTCC Print Shop (need student ID # to obtain)
Other costs:
- End of semester state testing through Credentia $140.00
- Immunizations – Hepatitis B, COVID-19, Flu, TB test (as required by clinical facility)
The last day to register, pay tuition, provide, and meet eligibility documentation is January 6, 2026.
