NEW REQUIREMENTS:

A 10th-grade reading test will be required before students can be approved to register for the class. You will receive a phone call and or an email from a cosmetic art Instructor to schedule the exam after filling out the registration form. You must bring your government-issued ID AND Social Security card OR tax ID to the reading test exam for verification.

Any student registering for a cosmetic arts class will be required to create an account with the state board, uploading a photocopy of their social security card and government-issued ID. Students will need to visit https://accesshub.nccosmeticarts.com/ to create their account and upload their documents.

Course Description:

There are two parts to this program. You must pass the first part with a C or above and earn at least 300 clock hours to move on to the second part. You may not miss more than 5 days in each part. You must pass the second part with at least a C and have earned a combined total of 600 hours to apply to the NC Cosmetic Arts board for licensing exams.

This comprehensive course provides instruction and hands-on practice in the concepts and techniques of Esthetics.  Topics include safety, skin care, make-up, hair removal, brow and lash treatments, and much more.  Esthetician students must complete at least 600 hours of esthetician curriculum in an approved cosmetic art school before applying to the State Board of Cosmetic Arts for examination.

When completed, you can apply to sit for the written and practical exam for licensing.  Estimated cost of exams: $184.00. This is an additional cost you pay to DL. Roope after graduating from the Esthetic course.

The Esthetic program is set up from the start of class to not only prepare you for the exams required by the NC Cosmetic Arts State Board but also simulate a working environment where professionalism is very important. We do have an attendance policy, a dress code, and daily responsibilities, the same as are expected in the workforce.  The Willow Tree student spa, located on the MTCC Marion campus, is open to the public. This is where you will gain the majority of your hands-on experience while being assisted by your instructors.
