My password is not working.

First, do you have caps lock on? Next, for Open LMS, make sure you are on the MTCC Open LMS page (https://mcdowelltech.mrooms.net).

To reset your password, choose the Forgot Password option. On the next screen, enter your user ID (same as your MTCC Gmail ID) then hit Search. You will receive a new login link via email.

I logged into Open LMS but do not see my course.

Courses will become available on the first day of class. If it the first day of class or after, verify your list of courses through WebAdvisor. You can also contact the Distance Education Coordinator, Summer Perkins at 828-652-0651 or support@mcdowelltech.edu to verify your Blackboard course enrollment.

How do I contact my Instructor?

Your instructors' contact information is in the course syllabus and under Course Contacts at the bottom of your course screen in Open LMS. You should use the instructors' preferred method of contact. Some instructors do not have offices on the McDowell Tech campus, so email or phone are usually your best options.

How do I take a test online?

If possible, take your test on a wired internet connection, instead of wireless. It is possible, although rare, that wireless connections can drop out during a test, which locks you out. Also, do not take a test on the Open LMS App. When submitting your answer, only click the “Submit” button once.

I was taking a test and it froze/locked me out/etc. Now what?

If possible, take a screenshot of the problem/error message you are receiving. Next, contact your instructor immediately and explain the issue you had while taking the test. They are the only ones who can reset the test for you. Neither IT nor the Online Learning department can reset the test. Additionally, each instructor may have his or her own rules on test-taking. Please read your course syllabus for more information.


I have questions that are not listed here. What do I do?

Please read over the Blackboard Orientation Booklet pdf that is available in the Blackboard Online Orientation section.
