Pre-K Program Accepting Applications

MTCC Child Development Center is now taking applications for NC Pre-K classes. You do not have to be a student or staff member to enroll your child. Please contact Melisa Smith for questions and to get an application (828-652-0637;

Week of December 14-18

MTCC will be on a regular schedule the week of December 14-18. Please wear your mask, social distance and wash your hands frequently.


We are upgrading MTCC's information systems. Colleague and Web Advisor will be down for maintenance on Monday and Tuesday of next week (November 23 and 24).

Resolution Honoring Ford Miller

The McDowell Technical Community College Board of Trustees recently passed a resolution honoring Mr. Ford Miller in recognition of Miller’s 90th birthday in October. Click on the headline above for more information.

Finalists Named for MTCC Presidency

The Board of Trustees of McDowell Technical Community College named three finalists today for the position of President at McDowell Technical Community College. These candidates were selected from a pool of 66 individuals who applied for the position following the resignation of the college’s former president, Dr. John Gossett, earlier this year. Gossett became president of AB-Tech in Asheville in July. Click on the headline above for more information.

Visit: Reaffirmation of Accreditation

McDowell Technical Community College welcomed visitors from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) for a reaffirmation visit in a rather unusual way last week. Due to ongoing concerns about COVID-19 and the safety and health of reviewers, the entire 3-day visit was held virtually via Zoom. Click on the headline above for more information.
