When Kaitlyn Helton was a senior in high school, she turned down a scholarship to a four-year college in favor of taking classes at McDowell Tech because she wasn't quite sure what she wanted to study or what type of career she wanted to pursue. In the first few days of her second semester at McDowell Tech, she had a "eureka" moment in one of her new classes and realized that she had found her niche.
