Nurse Aide I (8 week course)

Course Description

The Nurse Aide I Training Course is being offered as a eight (8) week in-person class with additional online assignments. This Continuing Education department class is limited to the first 10 eligible students. Students will be required to have access to a computer that supports the required programs and Internet access during all in-person class times and for the online portion of the class. Students must do Online Assignments and participate in class to receive credit as directed by faculty.
This course includes the basic nursing skills required to provide safe, competent personal care for individuals.  Emphasis is placed on person centered care, the aging process, safety, care of the elderly
during emergencies, legal and ethical issues, communication, infection prevention, vital signs, height and weight measurements, elimination, nutrition, basic restorative care, rehabilitation, dementia, mental health and end of life care. Upon successful completion, students will be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills for the entry level practice of the Nurse Aide I. Students will be eligible to test for listing on the North Carolina Nurse Aide I Registry by successful completion of the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program administered by the North Carolina State testing agency.
Dates: June 1, 2021 - August 2, 2021
Times: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays (4pm-8pm); Saturdays (8am-5pm); Online Assignments 
Mandatory Orientation: May 25, 2021 4pm-6pm in Building 17 Room 107
Location of Class: Building 17 Room 107
Tuition and Fees $205.80 (Must be paid prior to orientation), Textbooks $76.86 (NA 1 manual with    Student Study Guide located at the MTCC Book store)...See below about scholarships available.
Last day to register, provide and meet eligibility documentation, and pay:  noon on Tuesday, May 25, 2021.

Students enrolled in the Nurse Aide 1 (8 week course) can apply for the Golden Leaf Scholarship and the Governor's Emergency Education Relief (GEER) Scholarship. Students will be required to prepay for class, and if approved for Scholarship(s) will be mailed a check upon approval.
