Course Description

Summer 2021 Class Information
This course provides theory and clinical experience needed for the proper collection of blood and other specimens used for diagnostic testing. Emphasis is placed on ethics, legalities, medical terminology, safety and universal precautions, healthcare delivery systems, patient relations, anatomy and physiology, and specimen collection. Upon completion, students should be able to safely perform procedures necessary for specimen collections on patients in various healthcare settings and may be eligible for national certification as Phlebotomy Technicians. 
Dates: May 12, 2021 - August 11, 2021 
Times: Meet in-person on Monday and Wednesdays at 5:00pm-9:00pm, along with online assignments
Location: Building 17 Room 107/105
Cost: Tuition - $205.80, Books approximately $80.00, Uniforms approximately $30.00
Tuition must be paid prior to orientation. 
Mandatory Orientation: Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at 5:30pm Building 17 Room 109

Students enrolled in the Phlebotomy course can apply for the State Employee's Credit Union (SECU) Scholarship and the Governor's Emergency Education Relief (GEER) Scholarship. Students will be required to prepay for class, and if approved for Scholarship(s) will be mailed a check upon approval.
