NTHS Induction Ceremony Held

Sixteen students were recently inducted into the McDowell Technical Community College chapter of National Technical Honor Society, a two-year college honor society for technical and vocational students.
Students from Associate Degree Nursing, Business Administration, Computer Information Technology, Health Information Technology and Practical Nursing Education were inducted into the society on April 16, 2009, having been presented as candidates by Mrs. Valerie Dobson, NTHS Advisor and Coordinator of the Health Information Technology Program.
The goal of National Technical Honor Society is to see that deserving technical students are recognized for their scholarship and achievements, and to educate the community about the talents and abilities of young people and adults who choose technical education pathways to a successful future.
More specifically, said Dobson, NTHS seeks to reward excellence in workforce education; develop self-esteem, pride and encourage students to reach for higher levels of achievement; promote business and industry’s work-place values (honesty, responsibility, initiative, teamwork, productivity, leadership and citizenship); help schools build and maintain effective partnerships with local business and industry; and champion a stronger, more positive image for workforce education in America.
Students are invited for membership to NTHS based on selection criteria which includes academic, vocational and technical achievement in prior college coursework.
