What's Going On?

The NC Dept of Transportation will be building a new bridge to replace an existing one on NC 226 which lies between our old campus entrance and our new one. DOT officials have engineered a temporary road through our field to divert traffic during the construction phase for the new bridge. As of today, April 20th, Resident Engineer Brian Skeens said that they may be able to begin paving the temporary road next week or shortly thereafter. If that process goes smoothly, the traffic switch to the temporary road in our field could begin as early as two weeks from now, in the best case scenario. Overall, the entire project is scheduled to be completed by mid-October, including removal of the temporary road and culvert. There will also be some landscaping enhancements--trees, for example-- to come after the construction project is complete.
