Mr. Phil Tate, President of Tate’s Insurance and Financial Services, Inc., has joined the McDowell Technical Community College Board of Trustees to fill the seat left vacant following the death of the late Mr. John Roach. Tate was appointed to become a trustee by the McDowell County School Board, where he also served three terms as an elected member of the board.
Tate follows Darren Waugh in his appointment to the board last fall. Waugh is a Certified Public Accountant with Gabler Molis & Company, PA in Marion. Waugh was appointed by the McDowell County Board of Commissioners.
Over the past several months, our staff has been involved in a strategic planning effort aimed at identifying what kinds of training and new programs the college needs to be addressing now and in the future. We have surveyed local business and employers to assess job demand and anticipated job growth.
