Distance Learning or Distance Education enables students to take classes outside the traditional campus environment. During the education process, the majority of the instruction occurs when students take academic courses by accessing information and communicating with the instructor over audio, video, computer technologies (network), email, and/or voice mail. Wherever you may be, whatever your schedule, distance learning courses are just a click away.
At McDowell Technical Community College, we are dedicated to student success. Distance education offers a great deal of convenience for students whose schedules or location make it difficult to attend classes at existing campus sites. Our on-line course offerings, provide an alternative avenue of learning for students who otherwise would not be able to further their education and advance their careers.
Independent distance education students are responsible for attending a mandatory orientation session, purchasing materials, following the course syllabus, reading assignments, utilizing various types of technology, and taking exams.
